Airspace Integration Week in Madrid

The team of UNESCO Chair of National University for Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest participates in Airspace Integration Week Madrid to present the Chair’s results in training next generation of specialists for sustainable air transport.
During this event, the results of AVIONIC Erasmus + Project which POLITEHNICA Bucharest runs together with Politehnica University of Madrid, University of Strasbourg, Menzies Aviation and Airport College International (Finland) will be presented.
In the third day of Airspace Integration Week Madrid, the Erasmus+ AVIONIC project together with the EELISA Community “Sustainable Air Transport” organized the workshop “OCCUPATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR DIGITALISATION AND GREENISATION OF AIR TRANSPORT”.
The seminar gave the opportunity for a constructive dialogue between academics, students and employers regarding the new occupations and the corresponding qualifications of the next generations of air transport specialists.

21st ACI Europe LEADERSHIP & HR

A captivating discussion unfolded at the ACI Leadership and HR Forum, featuring esteemed human resources directors from leading European airports. The focal point of the debate was the insightful research titled “Occupations and Qualifications for Digitalization and Sustainable Development in Air Transport.” This groundbreaking study emerged from the collaborative efforts within the Erasmus project, “Creative Digital Teaching and Learning for Green Air Transport and Logistics,” skillfully coordinated by the UNESCO Chair at UNST POLITEHNICA Bucharest. The forum provided a platform for engaging discourse on the intersection of digitalization and sustainable development in the aviation industry, shedding light on the crucial roles and qualifications necessary for navigating the evolving landscape.

EDULEARN23

Last week the EDULEARN23 event took place in Palma de Mallorca. This event brought together professionals from all over the world to showcase progress in education. Here, AVIONIC PROJECT members were able to present the results of the project.
– Sorin Zaharia and Adina Pavel presented the progress made in identifying competences related to sustainability and green deal.
-Teemu Patala presented the progress in identifying best practices that can be references for future education.
– Francisco Pérez Moreno presented a poster showing the progress on the identification of digital competences that the professionals of the future should take into account.
Thanks to this conference, the results of AVIONIC were disseminated, and the progress of the project could be shared with educators from all over the world.

UNESCO Chair Director Sorin Eugen Zaharia Leads Productive Discussion on AVIONIC Project at AAR Annual Conference

Sorin Eugen Zaharia, director of the UNESCO Chair, recently had the privilege of participating in a highly productive meeting with representatives of airports in Romania and Republic of Moldova, held during the annual conference of the Airports Association of Romania (RAA). This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the AVIONIC project, an innovative initiative in the field of aviation. A focal point of the discussions centered on the questionnaires of occupations and analysis in air transport used for a feedback on qualifications offered by UNESCO Chair. The meeting served not just as a forum for the exchange of ideas but also marked an important step in strengthening the collaboration between the AVIONIC representatives and the aviation sector in Romania.

WORKSHOP "IT tools for teaching and learning in air transport" Strasbourg, France

From 8 to 9 June 2023, the “IT tools for teaching and learning in air transport” workshop was held at the University of Strasbourg as part of the ERASMUS+ AVIONIC programme.
Discussions between representatives of universities and business companies were held on the topic of new IT-based pedagogical knowledge for the modernisation of internationalisation and interactivity of air transport education.
The meeting was attended by representatives of UPB, UPM, US, AGI, Menzies, Coddity Company and ITU.

The representatives of the UNESCO Chair of UPB met with the general managers of Romanian airports

On 1-2 February, the representatives of the UNESCO Chair of UPB met with the general managers of Romanian airports.
On this occasion, Prof. Sorin Eugen Zaharia presented the project Creative Digital Teaching And Learning For Green Air Transport And Logistics “AVIONIC” and explained the importance of the analysis carried out within the AVIONIC project on air transport occupations and qualifications in relation to digitization and sustainable development.
During the meeting, a survey was launched on the evolution of “smart” occupations at Romanian airports as well as in other types of air operators.
The results of the survey as well as the findings will be shared with all interested air operators for use in improving airport operations and enhancing the passenger experience at Romanian airports.
We would like to thank all participants for their contribution to the implementation of the AVIONIC Project and assure them of our full support in running a successful airport operation.

AVIONIC PROJECT LAUNCH WITH ALL PARTNERS

Launch of the project with all partners
POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest and the UNESCO Chair “Engineering for Society”, in partnership with the Romanian National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, the International Civil Aviation Organization, the Romanian Airports Association, and the European Network for Aviation Training and Education, are organizing “UNESCO Days at POLITEHNICA University of Bucharest” from 17-19 October. The event will take place on the university campus, in a mixed format – with physical presence and online participation – and its main theme is the contribution of engineering to the sustainable development of society.
The opening of the event will be attended by Mr Barna TÁNCZOS, Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Mrs Alexandra Mirela BOCȘE, Presidential Advisor, Mrs Simona Mirela MICULESCU, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Delegate of Romania to UNESCO, Mrs Ana-Maria Cătăuță, Member of Parliament, President of the Joint Permanent Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for relations with UNESCO, Mr László Borbély, State Counsellor, Department for Sustainable Development of the Romanian Government, Ms Janina Sitaru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ionel Florian Lixandru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Education, Mr Mihnea COSTOIU, Rector of the University POLITEHNICA Bucharest, prestigious academics from Romania and other European countries, representatives of UNESCO Chairs and of the economic environment as well as students and representatives of non-governmental organisations.
To mark the international cooperation, the Erasmus+ Project “Creative digital teaching and learning for green air transport and logistics” will be launched on this occasion. The project is coordinated by UPB, with partners Airport College International (Finland), Haaga-Helia University (Finland), University of Strasbourg (France), Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) and Menzies Aviation Romania.
The AVIONIC programme continues the initiatives of UPB’s UNESCO Chair “Engineering for Society”, established in 2017, which consistently promotes UNESCO’s mission of sustainable development and multicultural dialogue through education, science, communication and information.
The overall objective of the AVIONIC project consists in Improving the quality and relevance of knowledge and skills of new generations of professionals by designing, improving and implementing interdisciplinary study programs at European level to meet the re-structuring needs of air transport labour market with focus on digitalization, sustainable development and societal responsibility.
